Including Families Project – a “Children in Wales” big lottery funding initiative

“Children in Wales has launched the Including Families website with the help of big lottery funding

It provides a range of multi-lingual on line resources for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, to inform and advise families, community organisations and professionals who engage with asylum, refugee and migrant families about issues and concerns affecting these families and their children.

The website is divided into 3 sections:

·                Section 1  Multi-lingual pages for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrant Families and Communities, covering a range of information such as children’s safety, parenting, discipline, education, health and social care.  – This looks particularly useful for families and available in – English/welsh/Arabic/Persian/Polish and Urdu – even if families do not have computer access info could be printed off

·                Section 2  Contains information for professionals and practitioners on cultural awareness, bi-cultural parenting and cultural child protection issues.

·                Section 3  Communities and the general public, explaining the different terms used in relation to immigrant populations, addressing the myths that surround asylum seekers and refugees and promoting integration and social cohesion.”
