“I Can” Coordinator – African Community Centre – Swansea

“The ‘I Can’ Project is a 3 year BBC Children in Need funded project looking to raise self-esteem and increase participation in education of Children and Young People of African and African Caribbean descent.  This is done through one-to-one and group mentoring, provision of positive black role models, family learning days, educational workshops, drop-in and signposting services, youth forums and school holiday and weekend activities.”

The African Community Centre in Swansea is currently seeking to fill the role of

‘I Can’ Project’ Coordinator

Location: 2 Humphrey Street, Swansea, SA1 6BG

Salary: £19,500 up to 20,000 per annum

Hours: 30 per week (including some evenings and weekends)

Contract: 1 year fixed term

Purpose of role: As Co-ordinator of the ‘I Can’ Project, the purpose is to improve the educational aspirations and achievement of African and African Caribbean children and young people living in Swansea by recruiting and involving a body of volunteer role models in order to deliver project activities and achieve project outcomes.
