EFL Teacher – MondragonLingua – Arrasate-Mondragon – Spain – Sept 2016

MondragonLingua is a language school we’ve had contact with before, and they are now looking for a teacher from September 2016.

As an established reputable school, their requirements are quite specific, among which is that the applicant needs some experience, needs to be an EU national with a native-speaker command of English. The full list is below.

“We are looking for an experienced English teacher for the 2016-17 academic year

Contract Dates
Start: September 2016
End: June/July 2017 (exact date to be agreed)

Conditions, Working Week, etc.
– An average week for a FULL-time teacher involves 24 hours’ teaching – General, Exam, Business, teenagers/young adults, a bit of everything usually. You may also be involved in online tutoring and Skype classes.
– The weekly workload varies slightly depending mainly on which intensive courses are on from week to week.
– If at the end of the contract, you are found to have had more than 24 hours teaching on average, you are paid the money owing to you or you are given some free time before your contract ends.
– If at the end of the contract, you are found to have had less than 24 hours teaching on average, you owe nothing and we write off the “debt”.
– If we are unable to maintain your average weekly workload of 24 hours teaching, you may be asked to perform tasks such as testing students, creating materials, recording dialogues, etc.
– Saturday morning work is possible – typically 10.00-13.00
– Classes usually start at 7.30, 7.45 or 8.00. Classes often finish late in the day eg. 20.00. There are of course many periods of inactivity during the working day.
– Some of the lessons may be in-company, which means you have to travel from place to place. Company car available.

– The contract has a 3-month trial period. This protects both sides, employee and employer

Other benefits
– We find shared accommodation (AVERAGE monthly rent: 700 for a 3-roomed flat = 250 + bills per person).
– Possibility of renewed contract for 2017-2018.
– We pick you up from the airport eg. Bilbao and take you to your flat.

Typically, you would have about 2 calendar weeks at Christmas (Dec. 22-Jan 6 approx.), 10 calendar days at Easter, plus one or two national holidays / saints’ days throughout the year (fiestas and puentes).


– EU National
– native command of language
– clean driving licence and willingness to drive
– first-class references on request
– proficient typist and IT user (MS Word, MS Excel…)
– confident in public, good communication skills
– reliable, punctual, able to meet deadlines
– willing to adapt to our clients culture.
– wanting to learn about our Added Value Services and transmit them to our clients.

Preferable (not essential)
– basic command of Spanish
– own transport

Salary and Benefits

Gross salary: 1449 euros/month
