Work placements at Szent Laszlo school, Hungary. EU Erasmus Plus scheme

January 18, 2017

This guest blog is written by Phillip Davies, of Languages Training & Development, Oxford:

“We would like to bring to your attention an opportunity for a supervised work placement with our organisation. We would be grateful if you could promote this among the recent graduates from your initial Certificate courses for teachers of English.

Languages Training & Development is a provider of ESOL to the Skills Funding Agency and offers the Trinity Certificate and Diploma in TESOL as well as the Diploma in Education. Within our portfolio, we also have a project, funded through the EU, to provide short (2-week) work placements at our partners Szent Laszlo school in Hungary where we assist the local teachers of English. This project is now in its third year.

Beneficiaries of this programme have been CELTA / Cert TESOL graduates from a number of organisations including St. Giles, International House, LTC Woking, Studio Cambridge, Manchester Academy and the English Centre Edinburgh, as well as our own trainees.

The work placement is supported in that each cohort of new teachers is accompanied by our staff, who assist in lesson preparation and observe lessons to give developmental feedback. New teachers benefit from this as well as the opportunity to teach young people at primary and secondary level within a monolingual environment in a state school. It is thus an ideal opportunity to complement experience gained on initial training.

The EU’s Erasmus Plus scheme covers travel to Hungary and accommodation in the school’s hall of residence and there is a small bursary (currently £132) payable after return.

Placements for early 2017 are planned for:

11 – 26 February

18 March – 2 April

Those interested should contact philip@ltd-oxford.com (tel. 01993 708637 after 2 pm daily) with a brief email outlining their interest and a CV. A Skype discussion will then be set up.

The Erasmus Plus scheme is available to all citizens of the EU plus a number of non-EU partner countries. There are no age restrictions. Previous attendance on an Erasmus programme does not normally disqualify applicants from this project.

Please find attached a flyer and if you wish to discuss this opportunity further please contact us.
