Teach First Programme 2017

February 28, 2017

Teach First  is an educational charity that seeks to combat educational inequality in the UK. The main way they do this is to run a two-year Leadership Development Programme  – a paid route into teaching, where you work full time in a partner school, whilst being mentored and coached by the programme to achieve a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). This leads to full UK “Qualified teacher status” QTS.

This year, Teach First are working directly with IATEFL, as the experiences that the training programme has with EFL trained teachers is very positive.  They say that:

“The skills and experience EFL teachers can bring to the programme mean that they are able to settle in to the classroom very quickly and have a huge impact from the outset, as well as gaining UK QTS and developing leadership skills which will allow them progress into managerial roles quickly…

Applications for Teach First are open for 2017 now, and there is a seminar on 2nd March 2017 exclusively for TEFL teachers – sign up is via this Eventbrite link

To qualify you need to have:

  •  a 2.1 or higher
  • the right to work in the UK for the entire duration of the programme (2 years)
  • sponsorship for overseas applicants is not available
